Grade II* listed building · Featured by KNX UK
Complete replacement of a failing proprietary lighting control system across all six floors of the Institution of Engineering and Technology's Grade II* listed Savoy Place headquarters. Executed while the building remained fully operational, the KNX-based solution using Zennio products consolidated complex room configurations - some containing up to seven light control modules - down to just two KNX panels per location. Eliminated vendor lock-in, delivered £30,000 annual savings, and extended system lifespan by 10+ years.

The Institution of Engineering and Technology's Grade II* listed headquarters at Savoy Place faced a critical infrastructure challenge. After nine years, their proprietary lighting control system was failing across the entire six-floor building (basement through roof level). The closed-protocol system locked them into a single vendor, creating frequent breakdowns and escalating maintenance costs. Some rooms contained up to seven separate Light Control Modules each, creating multiple points of failure. The building - hosting conferences, events, and daily operations across theatres, meeting rooms, kitchens, and office spaces - required a complete system overhaul without shutting down operations.
Executed a comprehensive building-wide KNX retrofit while the IET remained fully operational. Working floor by floor across basement, ground, and levels 1-3 plus rooftop systems, we surgically removed legacy devices and replaced them with an integrated KNX solution using Zennio products throughout. Consolidated complex control architectures - rooms that previously required up to 7 separate LCMs now operate on just 2 efficient KNX panels per location. Deployed Zennio touch panels, IP routers, motion sensors, DALI lighting controllers, universal dimmers, and blind/shutter actuators to provide unified control across all spaces - from the theatre to conference rooms, kitchens to basement areas.
